What do I need to do before we work together?

It's helpful for you to know who your ideal client is before we get started. A part of brand strategy is nailing down who your ideal client is so that all of our efforts are more effective. I give you tools to get into the specifics of who your ideal client is, but having an idea of who they are beforehand is best.

What if I’ve never hired a designer before?

No sweat, friend! I’ve got your back. I work really hard to make the process of working with me as easy as possible. Apply and book a free call and we'll chat over the details of how it all works.

What do I need to do before you design + build my website?

Prior to your design date, you’ll be responsible for completing your website strategy guides and uploading all of your text and images to a shared Google Drive folder. This includes all the text and images for each page of your website (including your logo and any other brand elements you may have).

I’ll also need to know what colors and fonts you use for your brand. If you’ve got a brand style guide you’ll definitely want to share that with me. As a brand strategist, I know that consistency is key to building trust!

During the planning phase, you’ll also have access to strategy and planning calls with yours truly.

How involved will I be during the site build?

During your design time frame you’ll be responsible for providing feedback, edits, and approvals. You’ll usually need to provide feedback within 24 hours to keep our project on track.

I don’t have a brand design. Do you offer branding services?

Yes! I do.

You have a couple options when it comes to branding:

• Option #1 - I offer a mini-brand design package exclusively for clients who do a custom website with me. It includes a text based logo, a custom color palette, font selections, and a one-page style guide. The assets provided can be used anywhere you need to apply your brand, not just your website. Pricing starts at $500

• Option #2 - Ready for a full brand identity design that is backed by strategy and appeals to your ideal clients? My Signature Brand Experience goes the distance to truly help you stand out from the crowd. Clients who book this brand package and a custom website at the same time qualify for $200 off the total.

• Option #3 - You can of course go the DIY route. You provide a logo you created (or your business name can be spelled out directly in Squarespace as live text) and a color palette (Pinterest is a great place to look for inspiration).

Can you write my website copy (text) for me?

Look, I get it, writing website copy is challenging. I don’t offer copywriting services but I do know a couple copywriters I can refer you to if you know that you won’t be writing those website words yourself.

I provide in-depth planning guides to help you write your own pages. My content planning guides also help you develop an SEO strategy that you can use to help make your website pages easier to find through search engines.

Why Squarespace? What if I want my website on another platform?

I specialize in building websites on the Squarespace platform because it allows me to build a completely custom site that doesn’t look like a cookie-cutter template, and you can still manage it yourself after I hand over the keys.

As a Squarespace site owner, you can easily edit and update your own website without needing to know any code. And if you do ever need a little help, Squarespace support is standing by 24/7 to answer your questions.

Are there any additional costs I should be aware of?

During the launch of your website, I’ll help you choose the right Squarespace plan for your business. As a Square Circle member, I’m able to get you a 20% discount on your first year. With your Squarespace plan you get a free domain for the first year.

I recommend adding privacy and terms documents to your website to make sure you cover all your legal bases. I can get you 10% off legal templates with The Creative Law Shop.

Yikes, I just don’t think I can spend that right now! Is there another payment plan?

I get it! Investing in our businesses can be scary when it’s a big chunk of change.

For clients that book up to 6 months in advance, I can offer a custom solution to spread out the cost over that time. You can also spread out the 3 standard payments by booking early.

Do you offer refunds?

Your 35% deposit is non-refundable and reserves your spot in my design queue, this means no one else can book those specific dates. If you choose to cancel prior to your start date, you will not be charged the remainder of your contract. If you cancel within 5 days of booking, you are eligible for a 100% refund.

Due to the nature of design work, I cannot provide a refund for services already rendered. I work hard to provide the best service possible and it is my highest priority to create designs that work for your business.

How long will my project take?

Design and build times very for each project. Your project will take anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on complexity. I recommend booking at least well in advance of your desired launch date in order to give yourself the time you need to write and gather all of your content. I also take on a limited number of website projects per year so booking early is the best way to make sure that your new website is ready when you are.

What about site maintenance + ongoing support?

If you would rather I handled future site edits, or if you know you’ll have lots of questions later, I offer maintenance and support at an hourly rate.

Do I have to transfer my domain to Squarespace?

Nope! But you can. I can help you transfer your domain to Squarespace or you can opt to leave it where it is and we can simply connect it to your new website before we launch.

Transferring a domain to Squarespace is usually around $20 (this is most domains), and many people opt to do this, so that they don’t have to manage payments in multiple platforms.

Will you import my blog posts or products?

Importing and formatting up to 5 blog posts is included when you select the Signature Website or blog add-on package.

Importing and formatting up to 5 products to your online store is included with the online store add-on.

I have a large online store, can you help me with that?

I can't currently recommend Squarespace for large online stores. Shopify or another similar platform would be better suited to your needs.

Do you work with clients in other countries?

Yes! I can work with you no matter where you are in the world.

All my payments are handled online and can be paid in your local currency. My business is based in the US and so my pricing is reflected in USD.
